The win keeps Avon Lake atop the SWC with a 3-0-0 conference record. Amherst tallied the first goal by Brianna Shagovac just before halftime to carry a surprise lead into the locker room. This late goal served to spark the Shoregals as they came out on the attack in the second half and scored the tying goal by sophomore Kailey McClain within the first minute of the second half. The Shoregals continued to attack the Amherst net and again broke through in the 69th minute on a goal by freshman Emilly O'Connor. Avon Lake put the game out of reach four minutes later on a goal by senior Sarah Hudson. Dana Strimbu handled the goal keeping duties for the Shoregals and made 3 saves on the day.
