Yes, you read that right - The Shoregals clinched at a least a share of the SWC title by virtue of their 4-3 victory over North Olmsted on Wednesday night. This year's title marks their first in the 18 year history of the program. Congrats to the Shoregals!!!

Game Summary:
Another exciting chapter in the girls soccer rivalry between Avon Lake and North Olmsted took place on Wednesday night. After falling behind 3-1, Avon Lake stormed back with 3 goals in the final 20 minutes from Freshman Emily O'Connor to earn a 4-3 win over North Olmsted. Avon Lake's first goal was scored on a header by Mary Donegan in the first minute of play off a corner kick from Megan Braye.The Eagles countered with a goal by Alyssa Balasko to knot the game at the 33 minute mark and the first half ended in a 1-1 tie. In the second half, North Olmsted score two goals within a minute at the 57 minute mark to take a 3-1 lead. The first goal was tallied by Erika Kobak off a pass from Grace Kereky and the second goal was by Alyssa Balasko again as she richoceted a shot off the post. Then the Shoregals got busy - Emily O'Connor blasted a shot in the goal from the right side, then scored on a header off a flip throw-in from Morgan Srail,and then topped the evening off as she stole a ball from a North Olmsted defender deep in their territory and netted the game winner. In goal for Avon Lake was Dana Strimbu who made 5 saves. Eagles goalie Sarah Loeser was kept busy with 16 shots on goal while making 12 saves. With the win, Avon Lake improves to 10-2, remains undefeated in the conference at 6-0-0, and clinches at least a tie for the Southwestern Conference championship. North Olmsted falls to 5-6 on the season.
