A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, and works his tail off to develop them into skills.

You can't put limits on your goals, the more you dream, the farther you will get.

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.

To be successful, you must decide exactly what you want to accomplish, then resolve to pay the price to get it.

Video of the Week:
This week we will be featuring another JV game. This game was against Strongsville and the Shoregals came out on the short end in this one by a score of 1-3.   We only have a very abbreviated version to show with only about half the game - but enjoy anyway.

News for the Week of June 3, 2013

Program Notes for the Week of 6/3/2013:

Schedule for the Week of 6/3:
Monday 6/3 - Concussion testing - 9:00 a.m. - meet in the Commons
Monday 6/3 - Camp Carey 3:30 p.m. at Troy

Weds. 6/5 - Conditioning 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. at Troy

Game Change:
There has been a change to the schedule for the upcoming year - the Amherst game which was originally scheduled for Sat. 9/21 has been moved to Weds. 9/18 at 5:00 p.m. for JV and 7:00 p.m. for Varsity.  9/21 is now an open date without a game.

Enrollment Figures for 2013 - 2015:
The Ohio High School Athletic Association recently posted the enrollment figures that will be used to determine divisions for the next two years. Let's see how Avon Lake compares to other SWC schools and selected neighboring schools:

Avon Lake                               434 girls
Brecksville                               591
Amherst                                  587
North Olmsted                         560
Westlake                                 546
Olmsted Falls                          443
Berea - Midpark                     To be determined, but it will be large - maybe the largest in the SWC

Avon                                      444
Magnificat                              586  a number of our better hometown girls are now playing for Mags.

As you can see, we are a very small Division I school, in fact the smallest school in the SWC and smaller than almost all of the surrounding schools.  For us, that means that we need to work harder than ever to keep competitive with these bigger schools.

Video of the Week:
We are back this week with videos from the past season and this week we will be featuring another JV game. This game was against Midpark and the Shoregals came out on top in this one by a score of 5-0. Goals were scored by Molly Maloney as she dribbled through about 6 defenders at the 14:10 mark of Part 1.  Sam Stonecipher at the 16:00 mark of Part 1.  Addy Poole at the 11:40 mark of Part 2 and Molly Jeffries scored twice at the 3:30 mark of Part 3 and again at the 5:00 minute mark of Part 3.
